Best Home Furnishing is seeking qualified individuals for a Quality Product Testing and Calibration Technician position at our Ferdinand Indiana Facility.
Job Title: Product Testing and Calibration Technician
Reports to: Training Coordinator Supervisor and Quality Manager
Objective: Support Product Testing, Inspection and Equipment Calibration functions in multiple divisions which include conducting a variety of tests, such as, Foam, Fabric, Frame etc., fill in for inspectors as necessary, plans and conducts all calibration activities
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Test incoming foam daily using the Foam Critical Parts Audit form to ensure all critical foams are tested routinely.
Input foam test results into a control chart and provide feedback to suppliers when repetitive issues arise.
Conduct the required Fabric tests (seam slippage, fiber migration, shedding) for all new fabric introductions, to include additional testing such as elongation, tensile, tear etc., as requested.
Complete incoming fabric testing weekly for fabrics listed on the Fabric Critical Parts Testing form to include Vinyl/Urethane Adhesion test, seam slippage, migration etc.
Coordinates foam cycle testing in Quality lab and at BHF foam fabrication facilities to ensure foam durability is maintained for all foam suppliers.
Conducts mechanism and power component inspection/testing to ensure parts meet design specification, for example, lift rated capacity etc. Work with suppliers to correct quality issues and reduce cost.
Plans and conducts all calibration activities for inspection equipment such as, tape measures, calipers, protractors, weight scales, torque wrenches, color panels, moisture meters, go/no go gauges etc.
Support Inspection functions across multiple divisions to fill in on line during absenteeism.
Routinely review Work Instructions used for product testing to ensure they are up-to-date and coordinate changes, as required, with Quality Manager.
Provide back up support for Fiberfil Scale program maintenance.
Serve as a Management System Team Auditor for divisional Surveillance and Certification audits
All other duties as assigned.
Other Job Requirements:
Possess good knowledge of our Product Testing and Inspections Standards and Calibration Procedures
Highly self-motivated, able to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
Possess effective problem solving, decision making and verbal communication skills and maintains a high level of teamwork
Education or experience required: High School or Equivalent
