Company is Committed to Reducing Emmissions
Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) senior environmental manager Dave Abel visited Best Home Furnishings, located at One Best Drive in Ferdinand, Ind., to officially welcome the company into IDEM's Voluntary Idling Program (VIP) for cleaner air today.
"Best Home Furnishings is to be commended for taking action to reduce its diesel emissions," said Abel. "The reduction of vehicle emissions helps improve air quality."
As part of its VIP commitment, Best Home Furnishings will implement a No Idling policy and post "No Idling" signs at its facility; ensure employees and drivers are aware of the company's commitment to reducing unnecessary and excessive engine idling; and inform its partners about the company's commitment to reducing unnecessary and excessive engine idling.
"Best Home Furnishings is committed to conducting business in an environmentally-responsible manner," said Brian Lange, company president. "We are always searching for more environmentally-responsible ways to conduct our business, and joining IDEM'S VIP program is an ideal way to help us conserve natural resources."
IDEM's free VIP initiative assists Indiana freight carriers, manufacturers, distributors and retailers reduce or eliminate unnecessary heavy-duty diesel truck idling. Increasing a company's fuel efficiency reduces petroleum consumption, fuel costs, engine wear and maintenance costs, diesel emissions, and noise.
Best Home Furnishings is the 29th company to join VIP. VIP partners are encouraged to invest in employee training and support materials to better educate their staff about techniques to reduce or eliminate unnecessary idling. For more information about VIP, visit www.idem.IN.gov/4128.htm.
IDEM (www.IN.idem.gov) implements federal and state regulations regarding the environment. Through compliance assistance, incentive programs and educational outreach, the agency encourages and aids businesses and citizens in protecting Hoosiers and our environment.
