The Lean Manufacturing Intern works in Continuous Improvement (CI) project teams in all areas of the company under direction of a production management member of the company’s CI Steering Committee. Through this assignment, Lean Manufacturing Interns will gain a thorough understanding of lean principles and methods applicable in any business environment.


  • Participating in Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Kanban and 5S events throughout the company.
  • Hands-on training and experience in manufacturing process analysis and improvement.
  • Development of cost/benefit analysis for process improvement concepts.
  • Facilitation/leadership of a significant Kaizen event as his/her primary internship project.
  • Compilation of findings and recommendations and presentation of results of the primary project to senior management.


  • Pursuing a degree in Business, Engineering, or a manufacturing related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Highly self-motivated with strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Team oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Prior computer aided design software experience is a plus
